Why is East West Rail engaging online?

Traditional public engagement or community involvement usually involves attending a public meeting or writing to us formally, and this can be time consuming, inconvenient or even intimidating.

The East West Rail Community Hub gives you the opportunity to have your say on issues that are important to you, at a time and place of your choice.

    • It’s a quick, safe and convenient way to have your say .
    • It’s a great way to keep up to date with the project.
    • It gives people who can’t attend consultation events an opportunity to have their say.
    • You can see what other community members think about an issue or topic and engage in a discussion.

How do I submit my views?

Each topic on the East West Rail Community Hub will have different ways you can engage. You’ll be able to submit your feedback via a variety of methods including online discussion forums, quick polls, forms and surveys.

To participate for the first time, simply:

    • Sign up for the East West Rail Community Hub by clicking on the "Sign In" button or the “Register” button in the top right of any page.
    • Choose a username and password.
    • Complete a few quick questions about you (optional)
    • You will receive an email to validate your email address.
    • Return to the website and click the "Sign In" button.

Why do I need to register to this site to make a comment?

You don’t need to register to contribute to every topic on the Hub, but it is necessary for many of the more interactive engagement opportunities.

We ask you to register for a few reasons:

    • It promotes accountability and encourages people to provide more thoughtful responses because feedback can be attributed to them.
    • It means we can get back to you if something major changes about the project (if you’ve consented to this).
    • It helps us ensure people adhere to our community guidelines, underpinning a safe, constructive environment for everyone using the Hub.

Can I use this Community Hub anonymously?

Yes, you can use the Community Hub anonymously. Even when you register and post comments, your anonymity is protected because you are identified by your chosen screen name.

    What happens to my feedback/comments?

All comments, ideas and suggestions are collated and used by the East West Rail team to inform the development of strategies, programs and activities, and to gain an insight into community views and opinions.

    Is my privacy protected?
