Identify and map your favourite local natural green spaces
We’ve launched a new tool to help you chart your favourite local public green spaces and highlight how to access them. If it’s the perfect place to exercise, walk the dog, explore or meet family and friends, we’d love to hear about it.
Your insights will help shape an Ox-Cam greenspaces map for communities to use in Spring 2022, which will coincide with more people increasingly looking to access outdoor spaces as the weather improves. The map will promote the use of natural green spaces locally and help people discover local hidden gems of accessible green space, supporting local ambitions to increase physical activity and improve public health outcomes.
Use this map to identify local public green spaces and highlight how to access them
You can use this tool to identify natural green spaces near you and help others within the community discover local hidden gems of accessible green space. This map is simple to use - just choose a pin and drag it on the local green space you use, then tell us more - how you access it and what you use it. We want to support communities getting outside and enjoying local green spaces.
To drop a pin and add your story, just follow these instructions:
You can move around the map, zoom in and out, and explore pins that have already been added by clicking on them.
To add your own pin, use the key on the left hand of the map and click the plus button to ‘ADD PIN’, this will bring up four coloured pin options to choose from:
Parks, Gardens & Squares
Natural Green Spaces
Water Features
Other
To select your coloured pin, click and drag it to the spot you’d like to highlight on the map and drop the pin. If it’s not in the right place, just click the pin again and you can move it to the correct location.
You can then add your comment to the description box and tell us how you use the space, how you access it, or any fond memories.
Finally, click submit, so that it can be shared with other users.
If you experience difficulty using the map and would like it to be supplied in an alternative format, please email contact@eastwestrail.co.uk or contact us by phone at 0330 1340067.
