We want to build a better and more inclusive railway that works for everyone.
To help us do that, we’re setting up an Accessibility Advisory Panel (AAP) to advise on how we lift the barriers to accessible rail travel and make inclusive decisions with a "critical friend" approach.
If you live in the region between Oxford and Cambridge, or the neighbouring areas, and are also a public transport user with experience of disability or long-term condition – we’d love to hear from you.
We’re looking for people who are:
- Willing to give their opinion and express views in a meeting environment
- Have time to prepare for meetings and respond to emails
- Can think from a customer perspective whilst understanding organisational and operational constraints
Meetings
Meetings are usually in Milton Keynes with an option to join online via Microsoft Teams. If you’re appointed as a member of our AAP, then you’ll be compensated for your time in attendance. Meetings will be scheduled bi-monthly with further opportunities to engage with our team outside of the meeting environment to discuss time-critical topics and projects where appropriate.
British Sign Language interpretation, speech-to-text reporting, and other adjustments will be provided where required.
How to submit your application
If you’d like to become a member of the Accessibility Advisory Panel, then you can apply by simply completing this online form.
You can find our application form for our Accessibility Advisory Panel here.
Alternatively, you can email and provide us with the following information either in writing or via a video link (videos in BSL are fine too):
- Please tell us who you are
- What are your experiences as a transport user?
- Why do you feel you would be a suitable member for the AAP? (Max. 150 words or record a 2 minute video)
- Imagine one thing you could change when travelling by train to improve the journey for disabled people. What would that be and why? (Max. 250 words or record a 4 minute video)
Alternatively please email your application to AccessPanel@eastwestrail.co.uk by Tuesday 10 January 2023.
We look forward to reviewing your application and hope to work with you soon.
